Participants will learn the features and elements of computer-aided drafting using AutoCAD software. The focus will be on practising the basic drawing and editing commands required to produce simple two-dimensional drawings.
The objective of this project is to provide the knowledge and skills needed to oversee personnel administration. The curriculum includes core courses on human resources, industrial relations, and training and development. The AMCP should provide participants with transferable skills and knowledge for advancement roles such as accounting clerk, finance officer, economic development officer, event officer, project manager, etc. APPLIED MANAGEMENT CERTIFICATE – Remote Learning (Online) It is anticipated that the Applied Management Certificate Program (AMCP) will be delivered over a 2-year period. The program consists of 3 pre-courses and 7 credited courses. The pre-courses will be delivered in-person when the credited courses will be delivered online. Course Description: This 42 hours (eight-day) course is an elective course in the Municipal Management Program. The course focuses on effective and practical writing skills are important for successful communication in business. Students develop practical writing skills using basic word processing technology. Course Topics: Students will learn how to compose business correspondence including emails, memoranda, letters, and reports, with a focus on routine and persuasive messages. A review of basic grammar is also included.
Phase 1: FOUNDATION PROGRAMPhase 2: OFFICE ADMINISTRATION CERTIFICATE PROGRAM The objective of this project is to provide the essential knowledge and skills needed to work in office administration. This program would also benefit participants who play key roles in succession planning in a municipal administration office. It is anticipated that the Office Administration Certificate program will be delivered over a 3-year period; starting in 2023 and ending in 2024/2025 . The program consists of 3 pre-courses and 12 credited courses. The pre-courses will be delivered in-person when the credited courses will be delivered online. At the end of the program the participants who successfully pass will have a college certificate in Office Administration.
The purpose of this course is to specify, in terms of performance objectives, the minimum requirements for Fire and Explosion Investigator. Course content is presented in a 32-hour, four-day lecture environment, followed by a one-day practical fire investigation. The course is aimed at participants looking to certify, re-certify or upgrade their investigative knowledge in the fire investigative field. The Introduction to Planning and Lands course provides an overview of the theory and practice of community planning and land administration in Nunavut. This online course is open to those who are interested in gaining an introductory understanding of community planning and land administration, with an emphasis on the role of the municipal Planning and Lands Administrator (PLA). Topics include the guiding territorial planning policies, community plans, zoning by-laws, land administration by-laws, survey plans, and land file management systems. The Lands Administration 1 course focuses on the acquisition and disposal of municipal land in Nunavut. Participants will learn about land administration by-laws, land acquisition and disposal procedures, land application processes, land leases, and lease administration. The online lectures and practical activities will help participants apply methods to acquire or dispose of land, process land applications, and prepare leases. By the end of the course, participants will have a strong understanding of the land acquisition and disposal procedures that apply to municipal land. Prerequisites: None
