At the MTO's 2018 Annual General Meeting Yesterday, the membership voted for representatives to serve on its Board of Directors. Congratulations to Steve England; SAO of Arviat and to Marla Limousin; SAO of Cambridge Bay.

We would also like to give a special thank you to Deborah Johnson; SAO of Arctic Bay, for all her hard work as Vice President of our board over the past 6 Months.

We are very pleased to announce that the recipient of the 2018 Elwood Johnston Memorial Bursary is Mary Joanasie of Cape Dorset! With her 20 years of dedication and service with the Hamlet of Cape Dorset, Mary was a perfect candidate for this prestigious award!

Congratulations Mary and we applaude your hard work!

The NMTO is proud to announce that we will be offering an AutoCAD 2018 this year. This training opporutinity is reserved for Land Administrator. The training is planned to be delivered from March 5 to 9 in Rankin Inlet. Please take a look at the course description under Targeted programs.

The Nunavut Municipal Training Organization has hired a new Executive Director.

Rachel Kunz joins the organization after gaining experience as a municipal CAO in Saskatchewan and Alberta. She is a graduate from the University of Montreal and holds certificates in Local Government Administration and Local Government Authority from the University of Regina. Rachel looks forward to a busy year for the MTO.

Nunavut's Aboriginal Fire Fighter Competition happened in Iqaluit August 1-7, 2016. All week participants practiced drills in an attempt to narrow the group down to six individuals for the national team.

Participants in Kugluktuk and Resolute Bay's Class 3/ Air Brakes course recieved over 15 hours of driving practice and are ready to test for their Class 3 licence.
